Overcoming Barriers to Starting an Exercise Routine
Many individuals face challenges when trying to start an exercise program, whether due to lack of motivation, time constraints, or resources. Understanding these barriers...
My diets always consisted of severely cutting down on calories. I got results, but I suffered! I would lose the weight, but how I missed my dear friend, delicious food! I would get down to my "skinny" clothes for the date I needed to look my best, and then I would go home and reward myself with a feast of all the glorious treats I'd been missing. Of course, I would vow to get right back to a "healthy" way of eating so that I would not destroy all the progress I had made.
I've tried every diet in the world. The shakes, the calorie counting, the packaged foods, the fasting, the grapefruit, the cottage cheese, the celery... What I really wanted was to find a way to eat healthy, nutritious, yet flavorful foods in substantial portions and still lose weight. And I'm happy to tell you I have found it.
Our digestive system has to break down into their useful component parts a variety of different 'feedstocks' each requiring a different process. The foregoing consideration leads to the concept of eating food in batches, which require the same chemical and mechanical treatment in the digestive tract. It is known as the principle of proper food combining.
Everything we know about our prehistoric ancestors is that they were lean. If they finished lunch hungry, they had a choice. Go off for an hour or two and find more food or have a siesta during the heat of the day. You had to really want the food to go to the effort of getting it. Today of course, in the affluent countries, we are surrounded by food.
If you decide to become a vegetarian for loving reasons, such as loving your body, your spiritual gifts, animals, and the environment, you'll enjoy the transition more. However, if you are motivated by fear -- such as wanting to lose weight to please someone else -- you're apt to struggle with food cravings and dissatisfaction.
For generations, every male on my father's side of my family suffered from a similar fate: a premature heart attack that cut their life short decades too early. I knew I couldn't change my genes, but I was determined to find a way to lead a normal, healthy life span...
The more toxic we are, the faster we age. "Everyone needs detoxification...because the air that we breathe is polluted, the water that we drink is full of chlorine, the clothing we wear is made of artificial fabrics and chemicals, the lotions and shampoos that we use all contain chemicals."

University of Florida researchers have begun the first pilot study to determine whether the milk of genetically modified sheep can help people prone to life- threatening lung problems caused by a specific protein deficiency. Six patients whose bodies manufacture inadequate amounts of AAT, leaving them vulnerable to emphysema, have begun receiving inhaled doses of it at Shands at UF teaching hospital...
Genetic engineering -- of food and other products -- has far outrun the science that must be its first governing discipline. Therein lies the peril, the risk, and the foolhardiness. Scientists who do not recognize this chasm may be practicing 'corporate science' driven by sales, profits, proprietary secrets, and political influence-peddling.
If you choose to change the weather, you can. But why would you? Isn't there love in a storm? You see, the ego gets caught up with it. The ego judges that a storm is something bad, something not desirable. And as a result, it wants to change it. We would suggest this isn't about change as much as it is about acceptance and appreciation.

by Alan Harris. My bones are weary as I drive home from the office. I am a casualty of the business world, that whirlwind of meaningless activity leading toward a grand total of zero on the famous bottom line. No, I won't go back to my meaningless suburb. I will just walk. I will beg. I will have nothing and want nothing. Non-attachment is the time-honored way to happiness, as proven time and again in the East.
There are sacred spots all over Mother Earth; in fact, all of her is sacred. Ancient cultures, because the people were right-brained (that is to say, they were in touch with their intuition and their psychic/clairvoyant abilities), often built their sacred temples on these Earth chakras.
